About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words.Smart, simple, carefreeHow did you come up with the idea for this product? The inspiration for Click & Grow's current technology came from reading an article about NASA's plan to find effective ways to grow plants in space. I decided to try out different plant cultivation technologies to see if they actually work. Although it started out as a hobby for me, I soon developed a passionate interest in the topic and started exploring the subject. After testing the technologies I found that most of them were unsustainable or used excessive resources. So after some research, experiments and many tests, we finally developed the Smart Soil solution that takes care of most of the problems apparent with other technologies. The Smart soil really works! What makes your product special?Click & Grow's technology is easier and more effective than similar products out there. We believe growing plants indoor can also complement your well designed home and thats why we have also dedicated a lot of effort into designing a product that is not only effective, but also beautiful. What has been the best part of your startup experience? With this product the most challenging part was to combine functionality with great design. We wanted to make a product that delivers what it promises, but also looks great sitting on the windowsill or the table. Plant cultivation technologies tend to be messy- there are pumps, sensors, soil and wires to worry about. With the Smart herb garden I feel like we managed to keep the focus on the design but not compromise on the quality.

I've read a lot of reviews that people were having problem with germinating the plant. After the first successful cartridge, I figured the reviews may have been written too early, because cornflower was the latest among other cartridges. But now I realize one of three cartridges simply didn't have seeds. In fact, when I first installed it, my running assumption was that seed must have been planted either too deep more moved around inside the plastic casing. That wasn't the case, and it took me 2 months to realize it. I simply transferred the seed from the third cartridge (I was on second), and it germinated in 2 days.So after 9 months, (first cartridge lasted 7 months) now I've found a faulty cartridge. However I suppose the biggest question is that how will anyone check if the seeds are actually in the cartridge? I'll contact Click & Grow if they have a policy or plan to protect such case, but as of now, I simply can't recommend this particular line of cartridges. Basil and wild strawberries are going strong.Update 3/16/17 ::I've contacted Click & Grow with the order number from Amazon, described what happened. They asked for some pictures and the address, and the replacement order is on the way. So if you have trouble germinating the plant, and especially if you didn't see cornflower seed in your cartridge, (it's small but visible, google it) I would recommend contacting Click & Grow or ask for replacement through Amazon.Of course, I still think they could've have made the processor easier. For instance, they could've used transparent film instead of the green cover they have right now. That way it would be easier to check the cartridge upon receiving the package. But overall, customer support was very helpful, and I think it's still worth a shot.I love fresh basil but when I buy it (in Winter) it keeps only a day or two. So I bought the click & grow. In a few days it already germinated. It was amazing. I had fresh basil at my fingertips for a few months. It lasted quite a while. I finally bought new refills. They started off well in a few days, but something was different about this batch. It was turning yellow and it didn't grow that much. It's like stunted. I don't know why. I'm willing to buy another refill but I'm disappointed in the last batch. Is there a replacement guarantee? I love this item and hope it's just one bad one.I gave this sage two weeks to sprout, and it has not. I started basil and thyme at the same time, and they are growing very well. I followed all directions and didn't fiddle with the growing medium in the cup, so I feel safe in saying that this is not my fault. To get a replacement or a refund, I must return the item to Amazon. They must have the item in hand before they send a replacement or refund. I have to go through the work of returning this and Amazon gets to use my money while I do the work.Needless to say, I'm not happy, and I'm not satisfied. These tiny seed pods are very expensive--so expensive, that I expect results--not problems. Why bother with this system--if the seed pods are unreliable? I might as well go to the nursery and pick out healthy, already established plants and put them under a grow light. We don't have the Smart Grow system. We do have a cat who LOVES Thyme and likes to eat it off a growing plant. So I saw these and thought what the heck, I couldn't find thyme plants in the winter in our area. The little refills allowed us to have a plant growing and and one was sprinting we re-planted it into a larger pot and then we began another of the refills. It grew as she ate the existing one and then it replaced the one she ate and we began growing another. It worked great, our crazy Cali is happy to have a constant source of fresh thyme!Bought the sage refill pods to add to the Click & Grow system kit (separate purchase off Amazon) gifted to my mother for Christmas. We implanted two basil pods (included with the starter kit we bought) and one sage pod at the same time. It has been 3 weeks overall since we planted the pods: both basil pods sprouted within 1.5 weeks and are continuing to grow well, but the sage pod has not sprouted at all.We use filtered water and keep the resevoir nearly full almost every other day. As of the moment we are disappointed with this purchase since these refills through Amazon seem defective. We might try ordering directly from the Click & Grow website, but with how expensive these refills are we are less inclined to trust whether these units are guaranteed to grow at all.I started 2 stevia plants at the same time as 1 basil. They are all growing well so far. The basil is growing a lot faster, but I am assuming it's normal. The stevia plants sprouted about the same time as the basil, but have since slowed to a crawl. I'm excited to see what they do over the next couple months. After a certain amount of time the plants just stop doing much. It doesn't die, but just stops producing. I'm probably doing something wrong. It's really nice while it produces.this is the second refill i've used in my click & grow and the plants became diseased and brown before they were mature enough to use in my cooking. the first time i used the refills the herbs were perfectly healthy and lasted a long time. i did not change how i cared for them with the second refill. i stopped using click & grow. This is the second time I bought them, the first they grew really well and the second set are not growing, they have been like this for about a month nowWhat can i say, click and grow deliver exactly what you expect. These arrived in the new reusable capsules which means they can offer for a power lower price. All seeds Germinated as expected and I ended up with 3 nice plants. This is the only click & grow that didn't grow I have purchased, waited, waited, waited some more.Going back to herbs! They never actually did anything except decay! And i had plenty of other ones before that grew normally.Little tiny plugs but they did start to grow slowly
